God's Love Is For Everyone!

During the reign of King Manasseh, he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord.  Let me give you a brief overview of 2 Chronicles 33:1-20.  Manasseh was a heathen! He built up the shrines that his father Hezekiah had torn down, reinstated idol worship, dabbled in witchcraft, and even sacrificed one of his sons.  In other words, everything that God said not do, that is what Manasseh did!

I have been teaching a series on Love. There are many other biblical characters that would fit the bill, but in my opinion, none as deplorable as Manasseh.  He basically spit in the face of God! Nevertheless, he prayed and repented for his sins, and God pardoned him.  He was forgiven.

So often we preach about the wrath of God, but fail to tell people about the love of God.  His forgiveness is love! God isn't like man.  When you wrong someone and apologize, they hold it over you.   Manasseh endured many things as a result of his disobedience  and in the end, he acknowledged that the God of Israel was God. When Manasseh turned his heart toward God in prayer and repented, God didn't push him away.  He was moved by the humility of his prayer and the sincerity of his heart.  Not only did God forgive him, but he was restored Manasseh to the throne.  We probably would have demoted him.

When Manasseh returned to his kingdom, he immediately began to clean up what he messed up.  He abandoned and removed the idols, repaired the altars of the LORD, and admonished the people to serve the God of Israel. He showed his love for God by changing, and God responded with his own love. What a shining example! We need to teach love, preach love, and definitely practice love. We must show God's love and restoration to one another. It is our duty as believers to let those in sin know that if they will turn their hearts to God, He will forgive them.  He will deliver them. And he will restore them.

If you're reading this and you feel like you've done too much for God to forgive you, YOU ARE WRONG! There is nothing too hard for God. Don't let shame keep you bound.  Come back to God and let him love you back to health!
