It's A New Day!

Holy Week was full of excitement, tragedy, and triumph.  I wonder how many believers filled the churches?  How many families gathered around the table? I wonder how many people are still celebrating Jesus?

Matthew opens the 28th chapter of the Gospel with these words, "In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdelene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher".  These women witnessed the cruel and bloody crucifixion of their Savior.  Can you imagine the anguish they suffered as the Lord hung on the cross? No doubt their hearts bleed out as his pooled on the ground.  Consider their trauma to see his beaten body hanging before them as his enemies laughed and cheered. These experiences could only be endured because of the hope that Jesus had given them before he gave up the ghost.

Jesus died on the cross to forgive our sins, but his resurrection fulfilled the promise of new life.  With the dawning of this new day, the women would experience hope. Just as Jesus promised the disciples that he would conquer the grave, he has made you the same promise. Death was now behind them and new life before them.

Whatever happened to you yesterday, don't lose hope! It's the dawning of a new day. Though sometimes your trials may feel as though you"re living in a tomb and the air is running out, don't lose hope! Though trouble is present and your days look dim, don't lose hope!
When you find yourself feeling down about your circumstances, take comfort in the dawning of a new day.  You don't have to walk around defeated.  With each day comes the fulfillment of God's promises.  There are too many promises to list here, but I'm happy to share a few with you. The rest can be found from Genesis to Revelation.

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.  Psalm 37:25
Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18

Come what may, the stone has been rolled away.  It's a new day!
